Biography
Nicola De Maria (born in 1954 in Foglianise, Italy) is an Italian painter known for his vibrant, poetic approach to abstraction. A key member of the Transavanguardia movement in the late 1970s and 1980s, De Maria stands out for his use of intense color, lyrical compositions, and immersive wall-paintings. His works often blur the boundary between painting and environment, creating atmospheric, dream-like spaces filled with light and rhythm.
He has exhibited widely in major international institutions and participated in prestigious events such as the Venice Biennale (1980, 1988, 1990) and Documenta 7, Kassel, 1982.
